The Wightfolk Tales is a collection of ten stories inspired by the folklore, legends, ghost stories and strange history of the Isle of Wight.
Across the Island, old stories cling to quiet country lanes, ancient churches, misty marshlands, lonely stretches of coast and villages that have been home to legends for generations. The Wightfolk Tales takes those stories and reimagines them, bringing forgotten characters, mysterious creatures and local folklore into new tales of mystery, adventure, romance and the supernatural.
Meet a mysterious beast roaming Blackwater during the Great Storm, a young woman drawn to a centuries-old knight, strange melodies carried through the mist, an elusive sea creature beneath the waters of Ryde, and many more figures from the Island’s curious past.
Some stories are eerie, some magical, some funny and some unexpectedly moving, but every one begins with a little piece of Isle of Wight folklore.
Written for Islanders and visitors alike, The Wightfolk Tales is an invitation to look a little differently at the places around us because on the Isle of Wight, you never quite know what old story might be hiding just around the corner.
The Wightfolk Tales will be published with Lemon Jelly Press on December 12th 2026.
